Back on the road.

Really great time in San Diego, then back to the UK where Tam, daughter in law, gave me a granddaughter, Summer Rose, weighting in at seven pounds, beautifully done, then to Spain for a few days before driving to Bilbao and then the ferry to the UK, a few days in the UK before flying back to San Diego, a quite miserable flight, left LHR nearly three hours late, the Air India was packed, few of the toilets were working, the food was miserable, missed my connection at Chicago and arrived in San Diego about three hours late. Then spent two days with Ed Lazarus, so enjoyable, talking, eating, just having a grand time. Had the bike serviced on Saturday, I was totally jet lagged and the only people who would service a Honda goldwing as old as Leslie were up in Powey, probably forty miles or more away, they were brilliant and signed Leslie off. Then Monday time to go, plans a bit murky, like the weather, directly north, a fast and hot run to Los Angeles, then a rather tense 75 mile an hour race up the Car Pool Lane for around forty miles, then thirty miles of stop and go traffic, good for my technique but baking hot in the afternoon, north of LA things improved but I was pretty tired and exited just before Ventura, found a rather shoddy motel for $55, need to camp tonight, now in Santa Maria, a few more hours along Rte 101 and then head off to find a State campground. Stopped early this morning along the coast for a breather and watched a half dozen or so porpoises swimming along the coast, brilliant. Weather toady is pleasantly cool, overcast, very lazy, stopped for coffee, now in the library, really enjoyable.THe road runs mostly along the coast, sea to the left and rather barren mountains to the right, not too much traffic, a most enjoyable day So, regards to all, will try and keep this log more brief as the most common reply from my non readers was it was too long.
